About Aaron Jackson
I am an aerospace engineering Ph.D. student at the University of Texas Arlington researching energy absorption of metamaterials for use as a protective layer in combat helmets. The trade-off of weight to performance is a major challenge in protective wear that can be overcome by the novel design of cellular structures by additive manufacturing. The grand motivation of my work is to help protect our warfighters from various energy sources including blunt impact, blast, ballistic penetration, and directed energy weapons that may lead to a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
