About Aaron Jackson

I have worked in natural resources for 30 years serving as a Project Leader for the last 16 years. In this capacity, I have been responsible for securing and implementing federal mitigation funding to research and restore Pacific Lamprey across the ceded lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, primarily NE Oregon and SE Washington. Duties include development and defense of project proposals, annual budgets, experimental design, scientific research, reporting and production of peer-reviewed journal articles, advocating for and implementing tribal natural resource values. Additionally, I serve as an appointed member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation Land Acquisition Committee and an elected member of the Riverside Fire District (Pendleton, Oregon). As as Indigenous practitioner of my Treaty reserved hunting, fishing and gathering rights I enjoy being one with the environment and work to promote the protection and enhancement of our First Foods throughout the aboriginal lands of the CTUIR which extends throughout the PNW through the greater Yellowstone basin. I also enjoy hiking, biking, coaching and watching kids sports.
