About Aaron Kaatz

Helping people is my passion! From a young age, I knew that helping people was his passion. Fortunately, I have found a career where helping people is part of my daily life and will be the driving factor in my future success. I currently hold a position is with Employment and Social Development Canada, where I work as a Senior Advisor in Indigenous Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement. I entered the public service in human resources at the Canada Border Services Agency, working in a student recruitment hub. I was recently part of the Aboriginal Centre of Expertise team at the Public Service Commission. I led the Indigenous Student Employment Opportunity Initiative to help Indigenous full-time students across Canada get experience in various government departments. I later led the Indigenous Career Pathways, an inventory of Indigenous applicants that serves to connect hiring managers directly with Indigenous candidates. The national recruitment initiative and support programs that I led have been delivered virtually with a lot of success and continue to provide Indigenous students and candidates with opportunities for networking, mentorship, training, and career development. When I am not at work, I am in the hockey rink doing what I love most in my spare time: coaching youth hockey teams.
