Background
About Aaron Marsh
My graduate studies were in the atomic-scale physics of rare earth doped materials. I demonstrated and characterized quantum coherence on novel optical transitions of rare-earths, on crystals which I grew myself in a homemade furnace with homebrew lasers. I was fortunate to be enabled by Montana Instruments (MI) prototype sub <2K closed-cycle cryostat, as part of the QISE-NET triplet award I received. I then joined the development of INTEL4, INTEL3, and INTEL10A process nodes, where I was charged with sustaining excellence of interconnect critical dimensions (CDs). This involved daily debugging statistical process control (SPC) charts, identifying opportunities to reduce process variation, providing instructions to tool owners on how to contain critical defect modes, and statistically evaluating the CD health of the endless train of development packages. Skills- Free space and fiber-coupled optics - Laser operation and construction - Optical & RF test equipment - High speed modulation, signal processing, and laser spectroscopies - Fundamentals of electronic and RF design - Practical chemistry, high-temperature furnaces & crystal growth - Cryostats and cryogen handling - Machining & CAD - Thermal thin-film deposition and vacuum chambers - Data analysis - Literature research - Quantum Information - JMP, JMP Script, SQL, C#, Python, Matlab, Mathematica - SPC Statistical hypothesis testing - TEM, SEM, and ellipsometry data trending and analysis - Semiconductor pattering, design, validation, and circuit characteristics - Design of Experiments (DOE)
