Background

About Aaron Miller

My family background is lower middle class and over my lifetime most of my family members have worked at manual labor jobs. Many members of my family are very bright, but they have never had the financial means to attend college, nor the belief that they could actually complete the dream of a college degree. My experiences while completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture at Portland State University taught me the basic principles of architecture, design, and representation skills. From those skills I have gained the perspective to think like a designer. The world of design is exhilarating, especially in an ever-changing global society. College has given me an appreciation for design and a further thirst for learning. Architecture is constantly evolving. It is not only the study of structures, but more importantly, the study of people. I want to create architecture that will inspire and move people. I am driven by what I do not know, and by new challenges and experiences. I want more. At this point in my career, I cannot answer the question "what?" I am asking “why and how.” I know my skills will thrive in the professional environment, where excellence is the standard and innovative thinking is a trade-mark. Not only will I succeed and learn, but I hope to also contribute to your ever evolving architecture program. Obtaining an opportunity to development my career will add to my knowledge, technical experience, and develop a deeper comprehension of architecture as a practice and occupation. The future calls for solutions in building design responding to the environment, politics, technology, and changing social standards. I'm a designer with a heart of sustainable design. I’m looking to remodel the future of residential with sustainable materials and housing practices in effort to build strong communities and stronger foundations for generations to come. My goal is to collaborate with accomplished designers, architects, and engineers.
