From the Marine Corps to Product Owner & Project Manager: A Journey of Continuous Improvement The Marine Corps was a launchpad for my career. It instilled in me the discipline and confidence that propelled me to earn my MBA, PMP, and other industry certifications. Under the guidance of an exceptional mentor, I developed a servant leadership mindset. Even before I understood methodologies like Agile or Lean Six Sigma, I successfully led a transformation of my shop, culminating in passing Commanding General’s Inspection. Project Management | Product Ownership | Data-Driven Decision Making Leadership is an evolving skill, and I thrive in both formal and informal leadership roles, ensuring teams stay aligned with strategic goals. Managing projects: from my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt initiative to leading my team in refining priorities through data-driven decision-making, has reinforced my ability to balance strategy with execution. Change management is critical to project success, particularly when working with internal stakeholders who adapt to change at different speeds. Identifying the right communication strategy, frequency, and medium is vital for smooth transitions and adoption. Data Analysis is one of my strengths, and I genuinely enjoy uncovering insights that tell a story and guide decision making. Whether in project management or product ownership, leveraging customer journey maps, process maps, and analytics helps me define user needs and drive better business outcomes. Blending Communication, Creativity & Analytics Problem solving is at the core of my approach. As a Product Owner, I combine analytical thinking with creative problem-solving to develop solutions that meet both technical and business requirements. When the original approach isn’t feasible, I collaborate cross functionally to find innovative alternatives that still achieve the desired outcome. Developing Communication & Leadership with Toastmasters Strong communication is essential in leadership, project management, and product ownership. As an active Toastmasters member and club President, I continue to refine my public speaking, storytelling, and leadership skills. Toastmasters has helped me deliver clearer messages, facilitate meetings more effectively, and engage stakeholders with confidence. These are critical skills for driving projects and products forward.
