About Aaron Nesheim

Aaron Nesheim is a freelance photojournalist based in Minneapolis, MN. Educated at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in fine art, he focused on photography and traditional print making. After returning to Minneapolis, he began documenting social justice movements in the wake of the death of Philando Castile at the hands of Falcon Heights Police. In late May of 2020 Aaron documented the Minneapolis Uprising after the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin. He worked on a story covering protest medics featured in the New York Times. In March of 2021 he was assigned by the New York Times to provide coverage of Chauvin’s trial. The coverage extended to the protests in the wake of Daunte Wright’s killing, and subsequent trial of former Brooklyn Center Officer Kim Potter. Aaron’s work was also featured in Time Magazine’s investigation into Terrance Franklin’s killing by Minneapolis Police, with the case subsequently being reopened. He has also covered Indigenous-led pipeline protests in Northern Minnesota and Washington D.C, President Biden’s Inauguration after the January 6th riots, and the 2021 March on Washington.
