About Aaron Richards

As a public school teacher and yoga instructor, I strive to create authentic connections to my students so that they can find a deeper understanding of their purpose. In my English classroom, my goal is to create active, critical readers and competent, confident writers. On the whiteboard in my classroom, I have written,"Reading allows us to understand the world, and writing allows us to understand ourselves." With each of my yoga classes, my goal is to bring the teachings of movement, breath, philosophy, and personal awareness to my students of all ages. The root of the word yoga comes from "yuj" or to bring together. Within all of my roles as a teacher, I aim to integrate our understanding of the past, present, and personal self so that we can become fully actualized citizens and people. I currently live in the rural surroundings of Blacksburg, Va with my wife and two dogs.
