About Aaron Sadow

I am a chemistry professor at Iowa State University and a senior scientist in the Ames National Laboratory. My research group develops new catalytic reactions, using new organometallic compounds and inorganic materials as catalysts. We have developed efficient and highly enantioselective hydroamination catalysts, the first main group or rare earth element-based catalysts for reduction of esters, epoxides, and amides by hydroboration, and catalysts for alumination of C-H bonds. This work involves ligand design and synthesis, homogeneous organometallic chemistry, and surface-supported organometallic chemistry. We are also heavily engaged in developing methods for selective conversions of polyolefins into new chemicals (plastic upcycling) through a Department of Energy - Basic Energy Sciences funded Energy Frontier Research Center called the Institute for Cooperative Upcycling of Plastics.
