About Aaron Siani

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist who completed medical school at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and residency training at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. I remained on academic faculty at UCLA after graduating and helped train psychiatrists in both the UCLA NPI program and the UCLA-West LA Veterans Administration joint residency program. Clinically, I led one of 3 multidisciplinary teaching services tasked with treating some of the nations most complicated and severe mental health cases on the inpatient psychiatric unit at the West Los Angeles VA. I was promoted to Chief of Emergency Psychiatry where I oversaw the remodeling of the West LA VA emergency room and the design of the new psychiatric emergency department being built. I reformed procedures and policies to more efficiently treat a growing population of veterans in severe mental health distress and reduce Emergency Department wait times. With the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, I flexibly adjusted policy as information evolved to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 amongst a highly vulnerable mental health population. In 2021, I founded a clinical trials company, Clarity Clinical Research, which I currently run with a dedicated team to assist in the investigation of new treatments in the behavioral and neurosciences spaces. I have extensive experience in treating a wide spectrum of mental health conditions and have given lectures on a variety of mental health topics from psychopharmacology to forensics and involuntary detention laws. I have particular expertise with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. I have presented at various conferences and published peer-reviewed manuscripts on various topics from behavioral addictions to ion channel physiology. I provide expert witnessing services and consultations to the technology and pharmaceutical industries.
