About Aaron Tomlins

As a Senior Traffic Engineer at McLaren Traffic Engineering, I work as part of a dedicated team to provide professional Traffic Engineering, Road Safety and Design advice to a range of clients who come from both the private and public sectors. I provide a holistic approach to understanding and advising our clients regarding their projects. I seek to understand the complexities of projects while working to identify solutions that can be supported by our firm within the NSW Land & Environment Court. I have a range of experience assessing proposed developments, including- Preparing Traffic and Parking Impact Assessments- Undertaking Road Safety Audits- Concept design for both on-street and off-street infrastructure, including parking structures- Completing detailed design reviews and certifications in accordance with AS2890- Modelling and assessing traffic impacts using SIDRA and AIMSUN- First principles data analysis, to develop tailored design and analysis solutions for atypical projects- Development of Construction Traffic Management Plans- Green Travel Plans & Workplace Travel Plans- Supporting our internal expert witnesses in the research, preparation and analysis to support NSW Land and Environment Court procedures. I have a keen interest in how Traffic Engineering and in particular traffic modelling using SIDRA and AIMSUN can be used to support the development and testing of evacuation strategies for natural disasters, in particular bushfires. My Undergraduate Research thesis was on this topic.
