About Abbey Barnes

Acting as the Accounts Assistant at Biochrom Limited exposes me to the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions. I currently manage the Accounts Receivable function, after handing over the AP to a colleague I trained, ensuring internal and external stakeholders are monitored promptly and accurately. Upon entering my role at Biochrom Ltd, I have worked to reform and streamline the existing processes and optimizing them, using available digital tools. The optimisation of these processes encourages efficiency within our business and a paperless approach. Further to this, I also reconcile the statements between our parenting company and all other subsidiaries. As my role within and awareness of the business have developed, I now assist the Senior Management Accountant on completion and delivery of the management accounts, optimising processes within the broader finance team and leading delivery of financial position. My role within Harvard Bioscience has provided me with awareness of wider European VAT treatment, financial regulations and the German language. As the Outsourcing Trainee at Menzies LLP, I provided accounting and tax services to clients in a wide range of sectors but specialising in the hospitality and leisure sector. I have developed an extensive set of skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, as well as accounting software such as Xero, Dynamics NAV and AX. At Biochrom Ltd, I follow regimented SOX compliance. I have also handled VAT and CIS returns, HMRC enquiries, and blogging tasks. I passed all of my AAT qualifying exams first-time, earning a double distinction in the AAT Advanced Diploma. I am passionate about learning new things, adapting to changing environments, and innovating solutions. My goal at Biochrom Ltd continues to be the optimisation of existing processes and providing a more accurate scope of the debtors and creditors to our Management, as well as acting with goal congruence with our parent and subsidiary organisations.
