About Abbey Braddon

I received my Bachelor of Science in Marketing from St. John Fisher College in 2019. I am now in the process of receiving a Master of Science in Childhood and Special Education (Grades 1-6) also from St. John Fisher College. I am currently a student teacher in a second-grade classroom at Francis Parker School #23. I am eager to continue my career in elementary education with both general and special education students. I have been extremely fortunate to be a student teacher at Francis Parker School #23, where I am learning the skills to be a teacher in a co-taught setting. I work with both a general and special education teacher who have helped me to better understand how to support as well as challenge all students in the classroom. So far, it has been an exciting and fulfilling experience filled with many challenges of learning to be a successful teacher. I am quickly learning how to be intentional and thoughtful in my teaching and cultivate an environment that makes students want to learn. While pursing my educational degrees, I also continued to work in special education. I was a classroom aide at School of the Holy Childhood for two years. During this time, I learned so much about children with developmental and behavioral disabilities. This is also where I fell in love with education. I also have experience with community habilitation where I worked for individuals with disabilities in their homes, at their job and in the community. Working with these individuals has taught me so much about patience, understanding, flexibility, and kindness, which I believe is more important than ever with the current climate of education. It has become a passion of mine to work in an inclusive setting where the needs of all students can be met and everyone can feel like an equal member of the classroom, regardless of disability.
