About Abbie Nolan

My interest in international development began with my fifth grade teacher and her famed “Pass it On” project. The assignment challenged my classmates and me to create an original fundraising campaign, and, after careful research and consideration, donate the proceeds to an organization whose mission we supported. Our teacher promised that after completing this assignment, we would see that kindness begets kindness, and one small act of charity could have rippling effects as its impact passes from person to person. An avid animal lover, I decided to direct my fundraising efforts towards protecting endangered Siberian tigers. I organized a Free Ice Cream Day at my elementary school and was able to donate approximately $200 to the World Wildlife Fund, with a designation for tigers. What began as a homework assignment and a belief in the butterfly effect of human kindness has blossomed into an Ed.M in International Education Policy, a B.A. in International Relations, enriching professional experiences across the international education and development sectors, and a desire to continue exploring the ripples of kindness as they pertain to the capacities of research & practice organizations.
