About Abby Bartz

I recently graduated with a B.S. in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience and will begin my Master of Public Health (MPH) at Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall. I’m passionate about translational research, epidemiology, and bridging the gap between brain science and real-world health outcomes. Growing up in rural Southwest Virginia, I’m especially driven to improve healthcare access for underserved and vulnerable populations. 🧠 As a research assistant in the IMAGINE Lab, I contribute to studies exploring the impact of music therapy on individuals with dementia and their caregivers. I assist with EEG data collection, work directly with participants to ensure comfort and compliance, and analyze non-verbal movement data. I also support research through the TBGO Choir, where we study the effects of choir singing on health outcomes across diverse groups—including persons with dementia, caregivers, college students, and community members. I'm currently seeking entry-level opportunities in public health research, clinical trial coordination, or community health. I’m eager to gain hands-on experience alongside my MPH studies and contribute to work that makes a measurable difference in people’s lives.
