About Abby Blaize

Growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I have seen first hand the effects of climate change. I have evacuated my home for threatening hurricanes and returned to help clean out flooded homes. These experiences have influenced my course of study. Environmental engineering will enable me to do my part in solving one of the biggest issues facing our society today. While studying at Case Western Reserve, I have developed a particular interest in water resources and remediation. I focused my academic studies in areas such as water chemistry, biotechnology, hazardous materials, and green infrastructure. I hope to significantly elevate my technical skills in these areas during the first few years of my career. My previous work experience has given me working knowledge in hydraulic modeling, sewer design, and flood management. I enjoy working towards protecting cities from the consequences of intensifying weather events, and I would like to continue such rewarding work. As an engineering intern, my passion for sustainability provides me my greatest strengths. My commitment to high quality solutions in the face of the climate crisis results in detail oriented, well-researched, and efficient work. I value teamwork and collaboration because the only way to save the planet is together.
