About Abby Silon
Originally from Beaufort, South Carolina, I graduated from Georgia Southern University with my Master of Arts in Public History (May 2024) and received a Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in Political Science from Lander University (May 2020). My non-thesis master's project,"Pathways of the Past: A Museum Education Program," focused on creating an inclusive history education program for a historic house in Midway, Ga. As a Public historian with experience in museum education and collections work, I am passionate about the use of museums as a tool for community engagement through a shared past to help creatively preserve history. In my current role as Educator/Interpreter at Cemetery Hill, I create public programming for a wide range of visitors and oversee the tour development of the historic cemetery project. My interests outside of Southern history are military/diplomacy and the Gilded Age in the United States.
