About Abdirahman Adan

With over 13 years of experience in humanitarian logistics, I am currently the Logistics Site Manager at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a world of humanitarian agency. I oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of logistics operations for the ICRC's humanitarian projects in various regions, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of medical supplies, equipment, and personnel. I also manage the procurement, inventory, and distribution of goods and services, applying the principles and practices of sustainable public procurement (SPP) to optimize the environmental, social, and economic impacts of the ICRC's logistics activities. In addition, I contribute to the development and implementation of logistics strategies, policies, and standards, and provide training and guidance to the logistics staff and partners. I hold a Master's degree in Logistics, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management from the University of Salford, a certification in Humanitarian Logistics from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and an advanced diploma in Public Procurement from Procurement iNET. I am passionate about improving the lives of people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence, and I am committed to the ICRC's mission, values, and principles. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, having worked in different countries and contexts, and I enjoy collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders from various backgrounds and disciplines. I am always eager to learn new skills and knowledge, and I seek opportunities to grow and excel as a humanitarian logistician.
