About Abdulbaqi Badru

I have a background in computer science, with a good understanding of the principles of programming and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) framework. I am currently in the management of business information systems and technology domain, and my expertise spans business analysis, E-learning, Edtech, strategy development, information technology management, agile methodology, data analysis, digital marketing, business management, project management, risk management, and leadership, among others. The combination of my expertise allows me to envision and actualise the transformation of an organisation from its current state to its future state. I am keen on the application of technology in improving organisational efficiency and effectiveness. I work well in a team and as an individual. I subscribe to the contingency and transformational leadership schools of thought. I am an innovative, creative, friendly, professional, and loving person. I just completed my MBA at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (awaiting the final result). I graduated with a Master’s degree in Information Systems and Technology (Cum Laude) in 2018. I have presented some of my research work at international conferences in France, Mauritius, Namibia, and South Africa. I am a member of the South Africa Association of Institutional Researchers (SAAIR), ISACA South Africa Chapter, the International Institute of Business Analysts, and the Institute of Project Management, Golden International Honours Society. I am a certified Microsoft professional in server management, ITIL foundation in IT service management, and a certified Scrum Master. As an individual par excellence, I have bagged different notable awards. I was recognized as one of UKZN’s top 40 inspiring students in 2017 based on my contribution to sports and research engagement at the university. I was awarded an ISACA scholarship in 2017 while completing my masters studies. I earned a couple of certificates of merit (class top score above 75%) in my MBA modules on leadership, strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, and research methodology, and in my Honours in information systems and technology modules on research methodology, research project, and information systems security.
