Background
About Abebe Fromsa
I hold an M.Sc. degree in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, India. I am currently a PhD candidate researching the efficacy of the BCG vaccine against bovine tuberculosis. Previously, I served as the Head of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and as a teaching staff member at Addis Ababa University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture. During my tenure there, I taught courses in veterinary surgery, diagnostic imaging, medicine, camel health, clinical diagnosis, and clinical practice both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. From 2004 to 2013, I held various academic positions at Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (JUCAVM). I have demonstrated my professional ability to manage multiple responsibilities on a tight schedule there. I taught veterinary surgery, diagnostic imaging, gynecology and obstetrics, reproductive biotechnology, clinical diagnosis, clinical practice, anatomy, and physiology both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I led diverse teams. I have also led the Continuing and Distance Education Office and the Biomedical Science Department at different times at JUCAVM. I have a strong ability to develop strategies, educational programs, action plans, and project proposals. Furthermore, I am adept at performing office procedures efficiently and have strong organizational and communication skills. I am well-versed in various proclamations, policy documents, country-level plans, report writing, record keeping, and handling students and employees with diverse behaviors. I also have experience working in harsh environments, such as the very hot climate of Zone One of the Afar Regional State in Ethiopia. From 2001 to 2003, I worked with Action Contre la Faim (ACF), or Action Against Hunger, in the Afar program based at 'Dubti Woreda' as an assistant project manager. Additionally, I conducted my final year research and externship in the pastoral areas of the Dire Dawa Administrative Region and the Shinile Zone of the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia.
