About Abhimanyu Patel

I have always been fascinated by my father’s childhood neighborhood in the heart of my hometown of Ahmedabad. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and remains a vibrant part of the city centre. The days he describes spending in the alleyways with his friends and the amazing infrastructure including the closely packed houses with common walls and buildings that still stand to this day paint a beautiful picture of his boyhood. My home town of Ahmedabad has undergone significant changes but structures of all sizes, shapes and purposes remain at its heart. I have always been captivated by the innovation, development and the design of these complex structures around me. My interest further developed while researching for an essay in the field of Physics as a requirement for my International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and has been the major driving force behind my decision to pursue Civil Engineering. I completed Bachelors of Technology in Civil Engineering, at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. My exposure during my years in the IB program as well as during my undergraduate coursework continue to fuel my interest and fascination with structure. During my courses in Civil Engineering, I have been provided with an exceptional theoretical and practical understanding of the ways in which a building is constructed, the standards that the design has to follow and achieve as well as the use of different materials. I have completed my Masters of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of South Florida and I currently had an opportunity to gain experience as a Assistant Project Manager at Stonehendge Building Group in Cincinnati, OH.
