About Abigail Adams

I am a first-year MA student in the Fashion and Textiles Studies: History, Theory, and Museum Practice program at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I hold a BA with honors in Art History and Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. My research interests lie in contemporary dress and current high fashion collections, and are rooted in my undergraduate research of international contemporary feminist art, ecocriticism, and representations of women both in museum spaces and media. I now look to hone all of these interests by investigating how current collections and exhibitions are influenced by sociocultural trends and political events, and how this can be mirrored in civically-engaged curatorial practice and popular fashion journalism. I've interned with multiple arts non-profit organizations during my time in Cleveland learning how to build exhibitions and create effective community-oriented programming. Most recently, I served as the curatorial and marketing intern at The Sculpture Center, and was heavily involved in the exhibition Score and Sound by artist Daniel Arsham. In my free time, I'm often further exploring my love of fashion and art by freelance modeling, visiting lots of museums, and doing personal research of fashion history and recent collections.
