Background

About Abigail Adams

I’m an alumna of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I was a Pogue Scholar and Honors student studying Political Science and Public Policy with a minor in Conflict Management. I'm the Co-Founder of "Why I Wear My Star," an international initiative that shares stories of Jewish pride and persistence in the midst of rising hate. We've shared hundreds of stories from across the United States and 25 other countries and formulated programming for elementary-schoolers through senior citizens on how to combat modern-day antisemitism through sharing beautiful Jewish stories. One of my passions is mobilizing college students to become involved in politics and to vote. I’ve demonstrated this through my work on multiple campaigns, including Jeff Jackson’s campaign for US Senate and Jonah Garson’s campaign for NC House. I executed the second largest event in the Democratic primary for the North Carolina US Senate race, with 500 students in attendance. After interning in Congresswoman Deborah Ross’ office in Capitol Hill while steps away women’s bodily autonomy was put up for debate with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I discovered that I have a passion for ensuring safe and legal abortion through policy. I went on to study abroad in Cape Town, South Africa while interning full time at the Women’s Legal Centre, where I drafted legal research for their “Equality in Relationships” and “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights” focus areas. In the summer of 2023, I went back to South Africa to complete more research for my honors thesis on the discrepancies that result in so many illegal and dangerous abortion procedures and how their public healthcare system could serve those who need it the most. I am honored to have graduated with Highest Honors for my honors thesis as well as Highest Distinction. I’m now a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company in Washington, DC and am looking forward to learning about new industries and sectors.
