About Abigail Baker

As a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Geology and a minor in Forestry, my passion lies in understanding our planet's complex systems and promoting environmental sustainability. My academic and professional experiences have equipped me with a robust foundation in geology and forestry principles, fieldwork techniques, data collection, and analysis.During my internship at the United States Geological Survey (USGS), I co-authored a paper on the surficial geology of Brookfield, Vermont, utilizing my skills in data analysis, mapping, and GIS technology. This opportunity allowed me to work collaboratively with a team and gain hands-on experience in geological research and publishing.In addition, my undergraduate research on Boreal Forest Wildfires enhanced my knowledge of forestry principles, natural resource assessment, and fire ecology. I have also acquired technical skills, such as GPS navigation, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office Suite applications, which allow me to efficiently analyze and interpret geological and environmental data.Outside of geology and forestry, I have honed my organizational and customer service skills through various roles, such as a legal internship at Lydall, Inc, and years of work in the restaurant industry. These experiences have reinforced my ability to manage multiple tasks, work effectively in team settings, and communicate clearly.I am excited to bring my diverse skill set, passion for earth sciences, and eagerness to learn to a forward-thinking organization committed to promoting understanding and preservation of our natural world.
