About Abigail Clarke

I am passionate about giving a voice to those who are vulnerable, whether this is due to their mental illness, past or current traumas or life experiences due to their protective status. A highly skilled caseworker, I am an empathetic and solution-focused individual who works well under pressure. I hold an Undergraduate degree in social psychology and I have over 6 years of experience working with vulnerable people ranging from children with SEN needs, young people who are looked after to highly complex women who are involved in the criminal justice system. I currently work as an Early Interventions Caseworker at Anawim- Birmingham’s Centre for Women, across 2 projects: New Chance and Intensive Supervision Court (ISC). Between both roles I manage a caseload of up to 30 women and support them on their journey with the aim of preventing reoffending by achieving positive outcomes. I keep confidential and accurate records and maintain them within specified deadlines. During my time working with the women, I provide emotional support for various issues that may be impacting their life and thus potentially leading to offences. These can be relationship breakdowns, experiences of domestic violence or abuse, substance or alcohol misuse, child custody proceedings or financial matters.
