About Abigail Coates

In 2022, I graduated with a 1.1 from the Global Business France double degree programme at Dublin City University and NEOMA Business School, having achieved the highest average grade in the course in all four years of my studies. I then joined the Europe Finance Graduate Programme at CRH, the leading building materials business in the world. During my first year, I worked on the Group Financial Reporting & Advisory team in Dublin. In my second year, I worked in Paris as a Junior Business Controller at Eqiom, a CRH company. I have now joined the Internal Audit team in Amsterdam for my final rotation. As part of the programme, I am pursuing the ACCA qualification. I am now an ACCA affiliate, having completed 12 exams (+1 exemption) in just under two years, passing each one on my first attempt. I placed 1st in Ireland in 4 exams (FR, AA, PM & FM), and placed 3rd in the world in FM. I also placed 2nd in Ireland in SBR. I have internship experience in Risk Assurance at PwC Ireland and Financial Reporting Services at PwC Luxembourg. I also have 3 years of retail experience at Circle K. I had an interest in accounting and finance from a young age, and my first work experience at the age of 15 was in the Accounting department of PM Group. I spent the majority of my formative years in Warsaw, Poland. Growing up abroad contributed to my strong sense of curiosity and my interest in other cultures. As a result, I am very open to new experiences and new people, so I work well in diverse teams. I also really enjoy learning languages. I am fluent in French, thanks to my experience of studying in a French university, and working through French both in Luxembourg and in Paris. I have recently started to learn the basics of the Dutch language, and I look forward to continuing to work in an intercultural environment in Amsterdam.
