About Abigail Dueppen
American coloratura soprano, Abigail Dueppen, made her professional debut to critical acclaim as Léïla in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles. Since then, she appeared with the Houston Symphony as Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) where she was hailed by Opera News for her “sweet upper range”, Tytania (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Musetta (La bohème), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Cunegonde (Candide), Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Yum-Yum (The Mikado), Norina (Don Pasquale), Sister Constance (Dialogues des carmélites), The Vixen (The Cunning Little Vixen), Contessa di Folleville (Il viaggio a Reims), Celia (Lucio Silla), Cupidon (Orphée aux enfers), Anne Egerman ( A Little Night Music), and many others. As a concert artist, she has performed Vaughan Williams's Dona nobis pacem and A Sea Symphony, as well as Orff's Carmina Burana, Rutter’s Magnificat, Fauré's Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat and St. Matthew’s Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Exultate jubilate, Coronation Mass, and his Requiem. Ms. Dueppen holds her Bachelor of Music degree with academic distinction in vocal performance and music education from the Eastman School of Music and her Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. Additionally, she obtained her Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology from Lamar University. Ms. Dueppen is currently the Director of the Graduate Vocology Certificate Program and an Instructor at Lamar University in both the music and the speech and hearing sciences departments. She is also a speech-language pathologist/clinical singing voice specialist at the world-renowned Texas Voice Center at Houston Methodist Hospital. Ms. Dueppen is currently pursuing her PhD in communication sciences and disorders at the University of Houston. Her research interests include vocal pedagogy, voice disorders, voice science, and vocology. For more information, please visit:
