Background
About Abigail Grisolano
I completed my degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Microbiology and an Emphasis in Biochemical Engineering. After graduation I began working as a medical scribe for the Department of Surgery and have hopes to attend medical school to pursue a career in medicine. In my undergraduate studies I volunteered through Tigers Connect as a Family Resource Specialist where I assisted families in finding the proper resources to meet their needs. As my undergraduate studies progressed, I shadowed numerous medical specialties to develop new skills and obtain extensive knowledge about how medicine is practiced. I held positions throughout the duration of my undergraduate studies that include medical research regenerative tissue engineering, working as an assistant in the engineering library, and working as a teacher's assistant with elementary students. To dive more into my research, I worked in the Biomodulatory Materials Engineering Laboratory as a member of their research team at the University of Missouri. My project was to develop an injectable and implantable osteoinductive hydrogel to relieve symptoms of osteoporosis with hopes to initiate bone regeneration and replace the current material of use PMMA or Poly(methyl methacrylate). Within this research team I have also conducted significant CT imaging and analysis which reminded me why I wanted to pursue medicine to begin with and re-piqued my interest in the medical field.
