About Abigail Powell

Ultimately, my love for the environment drives me to do my best work. My experiences have equipped me with skills necessary to help heal the natural world in the office, in the field, and the lab. Currently, I am a Regulatory Specialist at Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Here I am focused on supporting ecological restoration and mitigation projects. I've gained experience in drafting technical documents/reports and interpreting geomorphological, hydrological, and ecological data to support deliverables. I began my journey at RES as an Intern Ecologist where I was able to learn valuable field skills such as wetland delineation, vegetation surveys, hydrologic data collection, bank assessments, rapid assessments, longitudinal profile surveying, hydrogeomorphic surveys, and data interpretation. During my time at Duquesne University, I was dedicated to monitoring mammalian community during a strip mine reclamation event using eDNA techniques and camera trapping. A summer research internship located at Hubbard Brook LTER allowed me to explore the use of prescribed forest fire as a management tool for Northern Red Oak regeneration.
