About Abigail Simmons

Managing Attorney practicing Family Law I have been practicing family law since my admittance to the Illinois Bar in November 2021 and presently am the Managing Attorney at the Chicago Office of Charlotte Christian Law, PC. I received my bachelor’s degree in History from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2017 and then went on to receive my Juris Doctor in 2021 from UIC Law School (formerly John Marshal Law School) in Chicago. I graduated with a concentration in International Human Rights Law and spent three years working as a student clinician in the school’s International Human Rights Clinic. My work with the clinic contributed to a published White Paper examining human rights violations committed through mass digital surveillance perpetrated by the Syrian regime. I began my journey in family law as a clerk for various firms throughout law school and believe that my experience in Human Rights Law has shaped me as an empathetic and determined advocate for my clients. I have assisted clients in various domestic matters including divorce, custody, child support, guardianship, civil domestic violence issues, and multi-jurisdictional cases involving the Uniform Child-Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act. My interests outside of family law also include research and written advocacy, environmental law, and human rights law. I am particularly passionate about voting rights and enjoy researching and following the voting rights landscape in the United States during my free time.
