About Abigail Smith

As a Women's Complex Manager at American University of Sharjah (AUS), I oversee the daily operations and strategic planning of a residential complex that houses more than 900 female students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I am responsible for creating and implementing policies and programs that promote student safety, well-being, learning, and development, as well as fostering a positive and inclusive community among residents, staff, and faculty. With over six years of experience in higher education and student affairs, I have developed strong skills in student conduct and crisis management, community and student leadership development, equity and inclusion efforts, and public speaking. I hold a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Connecticut, where I also gained valuable experience as a conduct officer and an assistant residence hall director. I am passionate about international education and intercultural exchange, and I seek to contribute to the global citizenship and social justice mission of AUS.
