Lots of people are "Party People", but I don't know how many of them are specifically "Birthday Party People". There's a lot that goes into event leading when it comes to a once-in-a-lifetime seventh birthday bash. It takes one eye on the clock, one eye on the crowd, and both hands in a 38oz bucket of slime. Of course, you'll need a firm grasp on the practical skills, like optimal streamer placement and proper balloon-blowing technique, but at its core, being a Birthday Party Person takes consideration, understanding, and preparation. When someone trusts you with an event, they're trusting you to make them something special. Likewise, when someone asks you to craft them an online presence, it should be one-of-a-kind. When I left my job as a Parties/Events Leader for.NET training through Tech Elevator, I didn't see it as the complete 180 that everyone else did. In my eyes, I was still going to be doing what I always did: ask someone what they need, and find a way to make it work. Just because I've moved from cupcakes to code doesn't mean I'm going to change everything. I'm still going to be taking challenges head-on, with creativity, enthusiasm, and care for the people who are relying on me to deliver.
