About Abiola Akanni

As the Country Program Manager at Vitamin Angels, I have over 10 years of experience in leading and implementing programs that provide essential micronutrients to pregnant women and children under five in Nigeria and other countries. I hold a BSc in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the National Open University Nigeria and a certification in Project Management from Mindcypress. My core competencies include program management, country capacity strengthening, policy advocacy, and interpersonal communication. I have reached over 15 million beneficiaries and managed a network of over 200 States and I/NGO partners by ensuring the equitable distribution, accessibility, and availability of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS), vitamin A supplements, and chewable deworming tablets. I have also created a successful model for Vitamin Angels that establishes and expands quality in-kind grant networks among States and I/NGOs in Nigeria. My previous experience as a Programme Policy Officer at WFP has given me the expertise to organize, plan, and coordinate refugee WFP program activities in Nepal and Tanzania. I am passionate about learning and applying new knowledge and skills to enhance my performance and achieve my goals. My mission is to save lives and improve the health of vulnerable populations, and I am committed to accomplishing this goal through my work with Vitamin Angels and beyond. I have excellent communication skills and the ability to excel in diverse environments. I have made a positive impact on those in need and I strive to continue doing so in the future.
