About Abraham Adu

Dr Abraham Adu is an Assistant Professor of Accounting & Finance at Leeds Beckett University.Abraham also serves in an honorary position at the University of Aberdeen, as an Associate Professor. Before joining Leeds Beckett, he worked at other prestigious universities including the University in Aberdeen, where he served as an Associate Professor of Finance, and Head of Department at the Business School. He has also worked as a Lecturer in International & EU Economics at the University of Hull, Faculty of Business, Law and Politics. Abraham also served as the Deputy Chair in the 2024/25 critical review and development of the Subject Benchmark Statements in Finance for the Quality Assurance Agency QAA. He is an experienced Managing Director with a demonstrated history of working in property development & management, accounting, financial services and publishing industries.Abraham obtained his PhD in Econometrics and Economics at the University of Hull in 2016. He also holds a Master of Research in Economics, and an MSc in Financial Management from the same university. Additionally, he holds a BA in Publishing Administration from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. Abraham has demonstrable teaching experiences in Management & Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Empirical Finance, Risk Management, and International & EU Economics. At the professional level, Abraham is an active business development and finance professional with a Certified Quantitative Risk Management focused on Risk Management, Real Options Analysis, Econometrics Analysis, Budgeting, Forecasting, Strategic Cost Analysis & Monte Carlo. He is also a member of both the ACCA and CISI.Since 2017, he has been a Fellow Member of the Advanced Higher Education promoting world-class teaching, scholarship and research in higher education in UK institutions. Dr Abraham Adu PhD research addressed the cost analysis, economic, welfare benefits and implications of financial and industrial sector reforms using both general equilibrium and econometric techniques. In recent years, he has had a broad research focus covering many areas in accounting, finance and economics, including Budgeting, Financial Markets & Institutions, International & Corporate Finance, Banking and Efficiency, Growth & Development, Macroeconomic Theory & Policy, International & EU Economics and Applied Financial Econometrics. Abraham serves as a reviewer for internationally recognised journals including open access journals.
