About Abraham Johnson

Abraham Johnson, affectionately known through his social media as “The Urban Intellect”, Abraham has a strong theoretical background in public health education and HIV clinical research, as well as practical experience both inside and outside academic and rural settings. Abraham is passionate about ending HIV in marginalized communities, dismantling racist systems, and ending health disparities. His unorthodox approaches to public health and awareness of intersectionality is what characterizes his embodiment as The Urban Intellect. Abraham is a published public health practitioner and HIV advocate whose experience in community health and HIV biomedical research spans 8 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Savannah State University and a Master of Public Health from Georgia Southern University. Abraham was featured in the 2015 “We are Family” Greater than AIDS Campaign for the Kaiser Family Foundation, and is a notable keynote speaker, master trainer, and facilitator. In 2021, Abraham was recognized by POZ magazine as one of the Top 100 Black HIV Advocates. His talks highlight the importance of community engagement, health equity, unpacking medical mistrust, and addressing barriers to accessing healthcare.
