About Aby Isakov

I am a filmmaker, photographer, editor, educator and lover of media and art from Brooklyn, New York and currently based in Philadelphia. My personal art practice is rooted in curiosity, centering on personal and collective histories, relational dynamics, and sociopolitical issues. I am drawn to local and intimate stories, finding beauty and meaning in the overlooked. I approach art-making as a process of queering—challenging traditional methods, hierarchies, and expectations to spark new kinds of reflection and connection. My projects often blur the lines between the personal and the political, weaving together intimate narratives with broader cultural questions. Through experimentation, I invite myself and audiences to reimagine the familiar and embrace the pleasures of alternative ways of seeing, being, and connecting.
