About Achille Tchalla

Achille Tchalla is a geriatrician and Professor of Geriatrics and Gerontology at Limoges University Hospital. Prof. Tchalla is head of the geriatric medicine department. He is responsible for teaching, clinical practice and training in geriatric medicine, and is director of the VieSanté laboratory dedicated to healthy aging and new technologies. His research focuses on multi-domain frailty (cognition, mobility, nutrition, psychosocial and neurosensory) and the role of new technologies & artificial intelligence in the healthcare pathway for ageing well and caring for frail elderly people.Since November 2024, Professor Tchalla has been appointed President of the Scientific Advisory Board and Vice-President in charge of Research on the Board of Gérontopole Nouvelle Aquitaine, in France. Prof. Tchalla acquired quantitative and qualitative skills in comparative effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and implementation research at Harvard Medical School. He has studied the regulation of cerebral blood flow, mobility and the prevention of cognitive disorders in the cohort of elderly Americans (MOBILIZE Boston study) in Boston, and the evaluation of home technologies in cohorts of elderly Europeans (Esoppe study, Gerontaccess study.). With his team, he developed the FREEDOM cohort in France, and published work on the frail elderly in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region.
