About Achim Blok

More than 30 years of experience as Mechanical Engineer, covering project engineering, licensor process design, plant availability and expertise in high-pressure technology. I hold a PhD from the Technical University Aachen/Germany, my thesis was about design, improvement and simulation of components in LDPE hyper compressor cylinders. My areas of interest are continuum mechanics (plasticity and elasticity), transient heat- and fluid dynamics, tribology, design and manufacturing of high pressure components, compressor technology, operation and advanced condition monitoring, special maintenance for high pressure. In my current position as Chief Engineer HP Technology & Equipment I have achieved the highest level of competence inside the Borealis group. In that function I also provide advice and guidance to our management, and support the IPR department. I maintain a broad network, both internal and external. The position includes site support to international for new world-scale plants. I enjoy the cooperation with multi-cultural teams. For major incidents, I lead or contribute to the RFA process. To share my knowledge, I am the trainer for High Pressure Technology classes.
