About Adam Allison

As part of my formal qualifications, I graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Heritage Conservation, Cultural Heritage Management, Museum Management and Curatorship. My passion lies with history and museums and the conservation of this history for future generations. Throughout my degree and my working career with Institutions such as the National Library of Australia (NLA), Questacon and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), I have developed and honed an acute understanding and awareness of the sensitivities and varying issues that apply to all types of collections, exhibitions and in particular, project management. This involved the effective management of all Capital works projects, heritage and conservation requirements, liaising with broad and diverse range of stakeholders, contractors and suppliers, developing and implementing innovative and creative solutions relating to the collections, exhibitions and interactive spaces and developing internal and external project opportunities. As part of my role I am tasked with demonstrating an acute understanding of museum practices and procedures whilst leading, identifying, and interpreting all relative policy and procedural documentation and systems that directly relate to collections, exhibitions, interactive spaces, and Capital works projects across site. I was pivotal in the development, rollout and implementation of a full suite of logs and manuals such as maintenance fault logs; Museum data systems, user manuals; digitalisation and modernisation of all inward and outward loan agreements; handover documentation, policies and procedures; online archive manuals; collection documentation; conservation and inventory reports and manuals; collection management procedures; accessioning, deaccessioning, donation, gift and bequeath logs, ledgers and all other documentation associated with these works. Due to my strong leadership and project management skills, my ability to manage and prioritise a budget combined with strong project planning and tracking skills throughout the redevelopment and Capital works projects, I have subsequently managed a broad compliment of projects with a value ranging from up to I was in charge of all elements of these projects from conceptualisation, team management, budget management, procurement strategies, delegate approvals, tender documentation, tender evaluations and appointment of preferred supplier, contract negotiations and management, contractor inductions, stakeholder notification and negotiations.
