About Adam Bowman

Providing service in healthcare procurement is something that I truly care about. Knowing that the work my team and I do supports everything from members of our community having on-time surgeries to providing public safety in pandemic management (by ensuring our clinical teams have the tools they need, when they need them), adds a level of job satisfaction that I hadn't previously experienced in other organizations. Throughout my career I have been recognized as an approachable, resourceful leader both in and outside the workplace. My leadership style is that of a democratic and coaching nature; where, over my 25 years in the workforce to-date, I continue to recognize the importance of balancing the needs of my team with the needs of the stakeholder community. In my past experience as a supply chain leader in the private sector, which was foundational to my success in the public sector, my teammates and direct-reports relied on my ability to execute a plan, built on fact-based research, allowing the task-at-hand to see completion with ease. By actively working with clinical stakeholders and business managers on a daily basis, in analyzing and understanding emergent issues, I am aptly prepared to continue working to provide timely solutions in complex, multi-site environments where my decisions can and will affect the hundreds of thousands of our island community members that utilize healthcare services on Vancouver Island. Lastly, I'm a big supporter of environmental sustainability and animal welfare, and have built these things into my life in a number of different ways - this includes environmental volunteerism, monthly charitable donations, a recent adoption of two awesome cats from Broken Promises Rescue, and advocating for the plant-based community-at-large. I am always looking for different ways to improve both myself, and the environment I live in.
