About Adam Bowman

I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist (A diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.) with an excellent academic and clinical background, with over nineteen years of experience in Child & Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Correctional Psychiatry, working within various team-based healthcare systems including Medication-Assisted Treatment and withdrawal management programs for addictions and caring for those with serious and chronic mental illness on an Assertive Community Treatment team. Most recently had been working as a staff psychiatrist within the Veterans Health Administration for the past 7 years providing general and geriatric psychiatric care and addiction management. I am seeking to make a positive and meaningful impact in patient care and healthcare management, using an evidence-based approach and always striving to make healthcare better for patients and to improve the behavioral healthcare field in general. My clinical experience includes years of working face-to-face with patients as well as handling various managed care and behavioral health network related issues and challenges. I have a good understanding of evidence-based medicine and of the delicate balance between practicing evidence-based medicine and working with patients’ personal needs and wishes. I have gained a good deal of experience working within teams and collaborating with other physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, other psychotherapists, social workers, nurses, pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists, peer support specialists, case managers, medical support assistants, and various other team members. I strive to listen carefully and work collaboratively; and I strive to pay attention to the details but also see the larger picture and work for more efficiency in large team-based healthcare systems. I have a great desire to help find solutions to the often disconnected and sometimes non-evidence-based practice and coordination of medical care (including behavioral heathcare). And, I think that physicians can better collaborate with each other, various other care providers, and healthcare management organizations to educate each other, as well as patients, about what is evidence-based and effective.
