About Adam Carr

Extensive leadership experience across academic, pastoral, and boarding roles within independent education. A relational, values-led approach underpins work in safeguarding, curriculum development, staff development, and whole-school improvement, supporting pupils from EYFS to Sixth Form. Current doctoral research (EdD) explores how conceptions of childhood shape the way pupil voice is understood and institutionalised in secondary schools. The study is grounded in a social constructionist epistemology and draws on Wenger’s Communities of Practice to examine how pupils experience belonging, participation, and agency - and the implications of these experiences for educational leadership and policy. Additional responsibilities include work as an ISI Inspector and as a panel member for the Teaching Regulation Agency, contributing to professional standards and educational integrity. Former school governance experience informs ongoing engagement with strategic planning, compliance, and quality assurance. Fluent in German, with an internationally minded outlook and a longstanding commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusive practice in education. Professional interests centre around the ways in which schools can foster community, voice, and ethical leadership through evidence-informed decision-making.
