About Adam D. Brown

I apply my expertise in protein engineering and molecular biology to help develop novel gene editing therapeutics and solutions for various diseases and challenges. I have a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland College Park, where I designed and engineered a novel set of protein variants that self-assemble as nanoparticles with environmentally triggered assembly/disassembly behavior and with longitudinally differentiated and separately targetable domains.With more than 15 years of interdisciplinary experience in bioengineering, biological systems engineering, and chemical engineering, I have a strong background in engineering proteins to modify function and behavior, protein expression and purification, developing assays to screen and quantify protein binding and function, computational modeling of macromolecular (protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid) interactions, molecular cloning, electron microscopy, and genotypic analysis of cell populations using dPCR. I am passionate about creating innovative and impactful technologies that can improve human health and well-being. I enjoy collaborating with other scientists and engineers to leverage our collective skills and knowledge to advance the field of gene editing and protein engineering.
