About Adam Hellmer

I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 14, 1983 and was christened Adam Edward Hellmer. As a child, and for reasons above my pay-grade, my family and I moved around Texas a lot, living in Bellaire, Missouri City, and Rockwall. When my mother got tired of Texas, we ended up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I graduated from Edison High School. From there I attended The University of New Orleans, however like many young men collegiate life did not necessarily agree with me, and I eventually dropped out and moved to Houston to be closer to my family. As I found myself looking at my future, especially in the context of the unrest all around the world, and much to my mother’s dismay, it was not long after moving home that I enlisted in the US Army and was posted at Ft. Leonard Wood to complete my Basic Training in November, 2005. I don’t know if my desire to serve my country has anything to do with having been born on the Army’s Birthday, or if it is in my blood; I am the son of a father who served in Vietnam, two grandfathers who served in World War II, and a long list of ancestors who chose to serve, dating back to the Revolutionary War. When the time came to choose my MOS, and following the council of our family friend Mike Cahill, I chose “Combat Medic”. For 4 years I was stationed at Fort Hood (I joined the Army, and saw Texas), and for 15-months deployed in Iraq, I was honorably discharged and karma saw fit to allow me to attend Embry Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL where I achieved a BS in Aviation with a minor in Homeland Security I like to actively engaged and I have many interest my hobbies include travel, motorcycle riding, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, flying, sky diving, Jiu-Jitsu, history, crossfit training, kayaking and learning new things.
