About Adam Hogan

Simply, I love leading great work, with great people, to improve the lives of others. Bio: Adam is passionate about education, health, and strategic leadership to grow society for the greater good. Adam is currently Principal and A/Director at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership. Adam began his career studying chemical engineering and science (chemistry) at the University of Melbourne, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Education at Monash University. Adam served with Victoria Police as a sworn officer for four years, before transitioning to education and leadership. Adam has worked as a teacher, principal, network chair, A/SEIL and Principal in Residence, with a strong track record of achieving outcomes and transforming schools. Under his principalship, Lowanna College grew from 750 to 1100 students, and from 120 to 175 staff, all while student literacy and numeracy growth, together with staff culture, shifted from DET’s lowest performance category (Transform in 2019) to the highest category (Influence in 2024). Adam completed his Master of Education (Leadership) with first class honours, and was awarded Dux of his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a perfect grade point average. With strong interest in leadership, Adam has completed an extensive range of leadership courses at the Victorian Academy, and is a trained facilitator of a number of programs. Adam is an accredited coach through Growth Coaching International, and an accredited facilitator at Genos International, specialising in Emotionally Intelligent (EQ) Leadership. Adam is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served on numerous governance boards and committees, including the inaugural DET State Integrity Leadership Group. Adam is president of the Churchill United Soccer Club, and treasurer of the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund board. Adam has been an advisor to Latrobe Regional Health for OVA (Occupational Violence & Aggression), and SAPSE reviews with Safer Care Victoria. Adam has completed study tours in England and China, and continues to be an avid learner. In his spare time, Adam enjoys farm life with his family in Gippsland. Adam loves sport, music, photography, skiing, the family pets, and keeps well with strength training and running.
