About Adam Masters

Dr Adam Masters is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the Centre for Social Research & Methods, and Executive Director of the Transnational Research Institute on Corruption (TRIC) at the Australian National University. He convenes and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on corruption and organised crime. Adam came to the Australian National University following a 24-year career with the Australian government. His earlier career included time at the Department of Defence, the Australian Taxation Office and eighteen years with the Australian Federal Police. In mid-2009, Adam changed direction to pursue an academic career and, since 2010, he has worked with TRIC. Dr Masters' current research and teaching focuses on corruption and anti-corruption in sport and trade unions; transnational organized crime; the influence of culture on international organizations; and political rhetoric. He has published or co-published on corruption at the local, national and international level. His other publications have analysed the regulation of sex work and the use of political rhetoric by public leaders, including a book co-authored with Professor John Uhr – "Leadership Performance and Rhetoric".
