Background
About Adam Oblack
Top Secret Security Clearance I am a consummate safety, quality, and risk management professional. I have worked in the Aviation and Transportation industries for more than 25 years in nearly every capacity. I joined Great Slave Helicopters in 2015 after spending over 3 years at Erickson (formerly Evergreen) as the Senior Director of Safety and Quality, where my strong leadership and background in education led to the development and standardization of safety and quality tools that were utilized across the organization. At Erickson, I oversaw the safety, quality, and security aspects of two on-demand charter operators (FAR Part 135), a maintenance facility (FAR Part 145), and the factory that builds the S-64 Aircrane. This experience gave me the opportunity to incorporate both aviation and occupational safety disciplines into a robust Safety Management System that exceeded industry standards. Furthermore, I also wrote a Quality Management System that exceeded the guidance of FAA Advisory Circular 120-59A. Prior to joining Erickson, I spent 13 years working with the US Department of Defense. This includes over 7 years at the Presidential Helicopter Squadron, HMX-1 at Quantico, Virginia. I served at HMX-1 both as a United States Marine, and as a Technical Services Representative for Sikorsky. I am also an Adjunct Professor of Aerospace Management at Averett University. In the Spring of 2017, I launched Mallard Safety and Risk, a small consulting firm that immediately went to work providing safety, quality, and risk management guidance to companies seeking an affordable alternative to traditional consultants. I have been able to prove time and time again the fact that strategic investment in safety and quality initiatives saves lives, time, and money, resulting in continuous improvement and the creation of value to the customer. In 2018 I fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a Police Officer. It is truly the best job I've ever had. I have regular opportunities to help people in times of need and make real, positive change in people's lives. If you have ever had the curious thought of what it would be like to wear the uniform, please feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to share my motivation!
