About Adam Oodally

Adam has completed his Master's in Civil Engineering specializing in Water quality engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He completed his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 2018 at UCT. Adam is part of the Water Research Group (WRG) at UCT and has been working on the system-wide modelling of wastewater treatment plants. His research focuses on the modelling of biologically enhanced phosphorus recovery (BEPR) systems. His work will contribute towards more efficient design of such system and towards the optimization of current operational procedures to maximize the yield of resourceful by-products (such as bio-gas and fertilizers) and minimize running costs. His knowledge and expertise in the wastewater treatment sector is complemented by post graduate courses through which he has been exposed to the design of wastewater treatment plant units and advanced aquatic chemistry. Although Adam is very passionate about water/process engineering, he is also keen to learn and grow in other civil engineering fields. Adam has work experience in academia and the construction industry. In the first half of year 2020, Adam has worked as a senior teaching assistant at UCT, coordinating a team of tutors and managing a civil engineering undergraduate class. He has been an academic tutor for several civil engineering modules from year 2018 to 2020. In the construction industry, Adam has worked in a structural engineering consultancy for one month in 2015. He has participated in the preparation of tender documents for an office building, drafting and evaluation of bar bending schedules and cross-checking of draughtsman drawings. In 2017, he has worked on a construction site for a month. He has participated in checking the compliance of reinforcement layout with engineering drawings and determining construction site levels using a theodolite
