I am a young scientist. Currently I am working in R&D department. In my current position I am carrying out standard microbiological procedures such as isolation of bacterial strains, haemolysis and catalase presence testing, banking of isolated strains, API tests, antibiotic resistance tests and others. I am routinely extracting and determining the concentration and purity of RNA and DNA (both plasmid and genomic) from bacterial cultures, blood or fungi. I have also gained experience in molecular biology techniques. I am fluent in preparation and carrying out of standard PCR and qPCR, RT-qPCR using both intercalating dyes (SyberGreen) and molecular probes. Due to the clinical nature of the material available for research I determine various viruses (including SARS-Cov-2, HIV, CMV, HBV and HCV) and Treponema pallidum. I have learned how to safely and efficiently work with potentially biohazardous material. I have also gained experience in working with BSL2 class microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica, Corynebacterium acnes, Streptococcus mutans and others. I have cultivated lactic acid bacteria in 2 L bioreactor. I have performed optimisation of growth medium and growth conditions for said bioreactor cultures. I have performed lyophilization of obtained biomass, as well as I have established optimal lyophilization conditions. At the university I have carried out the research using IR spectra of ciprofloxacin resistant bacteria and on prevalence of KPC carbapenamases in urine bacteria. Both my university and current work experience have given me experience in planning and conducting scientific research. I have learned how to register, store, and analyse research data. As a member and later the President of student scientific club I have learned how to cooperate in a large group. During my internship at food manufacturing facility I have learned the basics of safety and quality control in food industry. I have learned how to conduct diagnostical tests and medical research during my internship at the Oncology Centre. In particular I have isolated DNA from clinical material (blood and FFPE) and performed genetic analysis for cancer related mutations by PCR techniques. I am diligent to keep high level of my day to day work and to perform the tasks given to me carefully. I believe that I can be recognised as a reliable person and that I can communicate and work well with a team of researchers. I am passionate about life sciences and the possibility of development that they bring.
