About Adam Sofen

I'm a partner in A&O Shearman's U.S. Real Estate group, practicing in our New York office. I represent REITs, developers, corporations, pension funds, banks, family offices, and institutional investors across a broad range of real estate matters. My transactional experience spans acquisitions and dispositions of real estate, mortgage and mezzanine financings, real estate joint ventures, space leases, sale-leaseback arrangements, real estate M&A, acquisitions of loans and loan portfolios, and the restructuring of non-performing and distressed real estate loans. Before joining A&O Shearman as a Partner in 2020, I served as special counsel in the real estate group at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where I practiced for over a decade. Earlier in my career, I clerked for Judge Wilfred Feinberg of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Chief Judge Kimba M. Wood of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. I hold degrees from Harvard College and Yale Law School.
